Truck mows down man at Noida-Gr Noida Expressway

GREATER NOIDA: A 35-year-old man was killed, while his friend received serious injuries, after a speeding truck hit them while they had got out of their car to check on the deflated tyre of their car at the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, said police.
According to police, the incident occurred late Sunday night, when the deceased Vikram Singh, a resident of Etah district, was on his way to meet his relative, along with his friend Munesh.
While travelling towards Delhi, one of their vehicles tyres got punctured near Jhatta Badauli village. Just as the two stepped out of the car to change deflated the tire, a speeding truck came from behind and hit them. The offending driver is said to be absconding.
"On receiving the information, a police team rushed to the post. The victims were taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared one of them brought dead. The other occupant of the car was severely injured. The injured person is receiving treatment at the hospital, while the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem. The families of the victims have been informed," said a senior police official at Knowledge park police station.
The officer added, "The truck driver fled the spot after the incident. We are trying to make all possible efforts to identify the driver and nab him as soon as possible."
