Truck-bike collision kills duo in Gr Noida

Greater Noida: An out of control truck rammed into a motorcycle in Jewar area of Greater Noida and killed two cousins on Friday morning.
At the time of the incident, the duo was returning from a nearby shop after buying milk.
Police said that the truck driver managed to flee from the spot after the accident. However, the probe is on to identify and nab the driver, said police.
The deceased were identified as 21-year-old Sukhveer and his 12-year-old cousin Dheeraj.
Sukhveer worked as a mechanic at a nearby garage while Dheeraj used to study in a government school.
Rajpal Singh Tomar, station house officer, Jewar police station, said the incident took place at around 7 am on Jewar Palwal highway. The driver ran the truck at high speed and could not control the vehicle, said the SHO.
"The motorcycle was badly crushed in the incident and was dragged for a few meters. The victims were trapped between the tires of the truck and were crushed to death," said Tomar.
"The local people witnessed the incident and informed the police. A police team rushed to the spot and rescued the victims. Unfortunately, one of the victims died instantly while the other was taken to a nearby private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The bodies have been sent for the post mortem. The truck driver left the vehicle on the spot and fled away. The vehicle has been seized and we are trying to identify and arrest the driver," added Tomar.
Soon after the fatal incident took place, the locals and the family members of the deceased gathered at the spot and blocked the road. A massive traffic snarl was witnessed at the highway due to the deaths. The protest continued for more than two hours.
Later, the resident MLA of Jewar, Thakur Dhirendra Singh reached the spot and assured people that appropriarte actions will be taken against the accused.
