Trees to mark traffic intersections along NH-8

To enhance the green cover at NH-8, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is planning to not only have massive plantations but also make the particular tree as an identity of that area.
Presently, various traffic intersections along NH-8 are undergoing constructions works as NHAI along with Haryana government are constructing flyovers and underpasses at major traffic points.
According to officials, major work will culminate by May next year following which the plantation drive is going to be initiated. The developmental works that began in 2016 had resulted in more than six thousand trees being cut. Facing flak from the environmental activists of the diminishing green cover, the officials highlighted that they will ensure that the greenery in the area is again revived.
The process of having a specific type of tree in a particular area is not a new concept in the city. A renowned developed that has developed a township at 3,500 acres in Gurugram have named some of their streets on the trees that have been planted in the area.
