To dodge law enforcement officials, Kaushal led gang under fake identity

Gurugram: As Haryana police prepared to formally get one of its biggest catch, gangster Kaushal to India from Dubai, the process for law enforcement officials is not easy as it seems.

This is because he fled to Dubai on a fake passport, using the name Narender Yadav aka Montu, and Dubai police have now asked their Haryana counterparts to prove that the person in their custody is actually Kaushal.

Sources said Dubai police have not even allowed the Haryana Police team to interrogate Kaushal. "The police team has not yet been able to meet the gangster. Haryana Police is now trying to get fingerprints taken at the time when Kaushal was arrested in India to prove he and Narender are the same person."

The Haryana Police got the first crucial lead about the gangster in August 2018, following the arrest of his brother Manish.

During interrogation, Manish told cops that Kaushal got the fake passport made from Jaipur, using the name Naresh Yadav and a Jaipur address.

Kaushal first fled to Thailand and subsequently moved to Dubai from where he had been running his extortion business.

Sources said Kaushal used a Thailand number as well as the Internet to stay in touch with his gang members in Gurugram, who would, in turn, make extortion calls to businessmen in Gurugram.

For a man known for unleashing terror on the businessmen of the city, Kaushal had also devised a unique way of extracting funds.

According to sources thirty percent of of the extortion money was distributed among the gang members, another 15-20 percent was given to the family members of Kaushal in India and the remaining money was routed to the gangster through the hawala channel.

The money was routed to Dubai through two to three countries, including Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. A hawala trader in Delhi was involved

If Kaushal is brought back to Gurugram and prosecuted in cases of extortion and murder across the state, it could well be one of the biggest achievements of Haryana Police in recent memory. Kaushal (37) has often been described as the "new face" of Gurugram underworld.

In December 2016, he jumped parole after coming out of Bhondsi jail and has been absconding since.
