To check crime, top cops to survey Ggn roads on weekdays

Gurugram: In wake of recent incidents of daring crime on city roads, senior police officials of the rank of DCP's and ACP's along with other personnel, will be present to maintain law and order even on weekdays, along with inspections on weekends.
On Saturday night, Simardeep Singh DCP (traffic) inspected the situation in civilian clothes.
"Mainly, our police officials are present to inspect the situation at MG road during the weekends. However, as per the instruction from the Gurugram Police Commissioner, we will also be present during weekday's at all major traffic junctions of the city," said Singh.
The move by the Gurugram police comes at a time when there have been some brazen incidents of crimes that have occurred in the densely populated areas of the city. There were major complaints of lack of police personnel providing security. Besides dealing with crime incidents, drunken driving continues to pose a challenge to law and order situation. Not only do the police personnel have to meet the challenge of drunken rash driving but also of the altercations by the drunken drivers that often have long confrontation with the police officials when fined for the offence.
During weekends, there are more than 20 fines that are issued against the drivers who consume alcohol beyond the permissible limits at MG road.
Several drivers that also includes like of Rahul Fazilpuria have been booked by the police for drunken driving. There have been multipl occasions when drunken drivers have even tried to physically harm the police officials.
Recently, the police arrested two people in their early 20's who tried to run over the SHO of Sector -29 police station when asked to stop at a checkpoint.
