New Delhi: A three-year-old girl after she reportedly died after she did not receive a blood transfusion on time at a Delhi government hospital.
The girl's family alleged that she died at Lok Nayak Jaiprakash hospital, as authorities did not take timely action.
The incident once again has raised serious questions about the service provided in government hospitals in Delhi.
The deceased girl, identified as Humayra, was a resident of Maujpur area.
Her family claimed that she died as the hospital did not give her the necessary blood transfusion on time, and blamed the hospital for negligence.
The deceased girl's father Javed said that after coming to the hospital at 8 pm on Tuesday, Humayra was admitted.
At that time, the doctor had asked him to bring the blood immediately from the hospital's blood bank.
However, Javed claimed that the entire process could start only around 10 pm.
When he reached the blood bank, the employee refused to give him blood and told Javed that the blood would be sent to the hospital staff.
JC Passey, Medical Director at LNJP Hospital, said that the girl did not succumb due to the procedural delays, but from septicimia and congenitive heart failure.
"Moreover, the patient had the rare AB- blood group, which took time to accommodate for the patient's family members." he added.
