Three-year-old rescued from Central Delhi, two women held

New Delhi: In just 48 hours, Delhi Police has rescued a 3-year-old kidnapped girl and arrested two women who tried to sell the minor for Rs 50,000. The accused, identified as Rani (20) and Sahili (20), had kidnapped the child on the afternoon of January 11 from Jama Masjid.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa claimed that complainant along with his wife, younger brother and two daughters had come to Jama Masjid for visiting. His daughters were playing near Vajukhana.

"After some time, he found that his younger daughter aged 3 years was missing. He searched her everywhere but she could not be traced," said DCP Central.

He further stated that during the investigation, the footage of CCTV cameras installed in nearby areas was obtained and analysed in which three women were found going with the kidnapped child but nobody could recognize these women.

"The arrest was made on January 13 on the basis of information that they would come in the area of Jama Masjid along with a kidnapped child," said DCP Central.

The police team laid a trap and both the women were apprehended and the kidnapped child was also rescued safely.

Police claimed that Rani came in contact with a woman for seeking some job. That woman allured her that she needed a child for which she could pay Rs 50,000. Rani shared this offer with Sahili and both of them agreed on this task.

That woman also told them that they could kidnap the child from Jama Masjid area on Friday as a large number of devotees came there for Jumma Namaz. On January 11, both of them came in Jama Masjid and kept an eye on the target. After few hours, they noticed that two girl children were playing there and as they found an opportunity, they kidnapped the younger girl and escaped from there.

They met the woman who was waiting outside and they all boarded in a TSR for Shastri Park where the woman got down and gave Rs 5,000 as advance and asked them to keep the child with them for one or two days and when the matter will be settled, she will take the child and pay them the balance money.
