Three persons held for robbing man on pretext of solving business loss through rituals
Delhi Police on Friday said that they have arrested three persons for robbing a man of Rs 11 lakh on the pretext of performing rituals to cure their business loss in Dwarka district.
Police identified the accused as Krishan (38), Yaqub Shah (37) and Wazid (27). The robbed cash amount of Rs 5.51 lakh was recovered. The complainant, a native of Najafgadh stated that he was running into losses and he believed that his animals were getting sick. He shared this problem with his nephew, who lives in Haryana. "The nephew suggested that he knew one person namely Chand, who knew some saints in Rohtak who can solve the problem by performing prayers and rituals," police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that three days ago, three persons came, in which two were looking like saints. They lured the complainant that if they perform some rituals in the house, his problems would be solved.
DCP Dwarka further said that on May 22 all the three persons visited his residence at about 11:00 AM and started performing some rituals. "In the meantime, one of his relatives came and gave him 5 Lakh which he put on a bag which already had some money," police said.
In the meantime, one of these three asked him to come with them at the road for performing some ritual. In a hurry, the complainant carried the bag having cash along with him and sat inside the accused car. Suddenly, one of them point out something like a pistol at him, slapped and throw him out of the car and fled away along with the cash of Rs. 11 lakh. "The complainant started shouting and some of the nearby persons chased the car for a long distance and the car met with an accident with a tree at Dichaoon Nala and all the three persons with robbed cash fled away in Sorghum fields," police said.
Police further said that a marriage function of complainant's elder brother's daughter is to be solemnized on 24 May 2019 at his native village. For this reason, he has asked his relatives to arrange some money. During interrogation, the accused had disclosed that they had committed the crime at the instance of one person named Chand, resident of Rohtak.
