Three men arrested, juvenile nabbed for murder-robberies

NEW DELHI: Three men were arrested and a juvenile apprehended on Thursday for their involvements in a series of murders.
The accused used to rob valuables from their victims and then strangle them to death.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Omvir Singh said the accused men, identified as Sanjay (22), Rohit (22) and Badal (19), wanted to earn a quick buck to lead a lavish life.
Thus, the idea of robbing people came to their minds, leading to a spree of incidents.
After each robbery, the accused would sell the stolen cell phones and other articles to labourers at cheaper rates, on the pretext of wanting cash on an emergency basis.
According to police, the first murder that the accused committed took place in Sanjay Jheel area of Pandav Nagar in February 2016.
In the incident, a gardener was reportedly murdered by unknown criminals.
Another incident of murder came to light in November 2016 from Ghazipur, in which a person was robbed and killed by unknown persons near Ghazipur flyover.
The third murder took place in July this year in Mandawali, wherein the victim was robbed and killed near a railway track.
The similar modus operandi in all three incidents helped police connect the dots. "The accused were arrested from Sanjay Jheel Park on the basis of a tip-off," Singh said.
Regarding the Sanjay Jheel murder, the accused revealed that the gardener of the park was hindering their criminal activities, which is why they eliminated him.
