Three members of int'l drug cartel held, heroin worth Rs 10 crore seized

New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has busted an international drug cartel and arrested three men, who used to send consignments of heroin to European and African countries.

Police said on Saturday that the accused used to smuggle heroin into the country by ingesting capsules of the narcotic drug and storing it in their stomachs. Two and half kilograms of high-grade heroin, worth Rs 10 crore in the international market, has been recovered from them.

The accused were identified as were identified as Surinder Kumar (38), Denny Kumar (40) and the supplier John Bosco supplier, a Nigerian national presently residing in Dwarka Sector-19.

The cartel is involved in obtaining heroin from Afghanistan and Pakistan and supplying it to drug peddlers in Delhi, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) PK Kushwah said that a trap was laid near the under construction Tikri Metro station at Rohtak Road on February 19, and Surender and Denny Kumar were nabbed. On searching them, one kg heroin each was recovered from the duo.

Based on their revelation, Bosco was later arrested from Amrahi Extension in Dwarka.

A team of Special Cell Southern Range, led by Inspector Dinesh Arya and Inspector Ishwar Singh, under the supervision of Attar Singh, ACP, Special Cell, made the arrests.

Police claimed that they learnt that Surender and Denny had collected more than 40 consignments of heroin, weighing about 80 kg, from Bosco during the last one year

Bosco disclosed that he used to get the supply of heroin directly from his Nigerian counterparts, based in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

"It was also revealed by Bosco that persons acting as couriers of drugs from these countries used to bring heroin in their stomachs by ingesting capsules of heroin. These couriers used to hand over the heroin to these persons of Nigerian origin staying in Delhi, which was being supplied to drug dealers in Delhi, UP, Punjab and Haryana," said the DCP.

Besides, the cartel sends consignments of heroin to European, African and other countries, as disclosed by the arrested Nigerian.
