Three held for murder of youth over Rs 2,200 in Gzb

Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad Police on Sunday cracked the case of the blind murder of a 17-year-old boy, whose body was found in a park in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad on Friday and arrested three accused in the matter.
Police said the murder was committed because of an argument over a monetary issue between the deceased, identified as Rohit, and his friends.
Sources said the murder was reportedly committed for a paltry sum of Rs 2,200.
Police said the trio of Jogi, Mohitpal and Deepak were arrested from Sahibabad on Saturday night.
On the night of the incident, the accused had drinks with the victim, before bludgeoning his head with a heavy stone and then strangling him with a t-shirt, said police.
Rakesh Kumar Mishra, Circle Officer, Ghaziabad, said, "On Friday evening, police received information that the body of an unidentified boy was lying in a park. Investigations identified the deceased as Rohit, a native of Ganeshpuri area."
"Police registered a case and upon probing the CCTV footages, three persons, as Rohit's friends were found accused of murdering him. We launched a manhunt and arrested them on Saturday night," he added.
"Upon interrogating the arrested persons, it was revealed that Rohit owed Jogi Rs 2,200 and instead of paying, they got involved into an argument after having some drinks together. When Jogi questioned him, Rohit denied having taking the money. They then murdered him brutally with a heavy stone and strangled with a T-shirt. All the accused fled away from the spot after the murder" added Mishra.
