Three held for cheating people by creating fake website

New Delhi: Cyber Crime Cell of North West District busted a gang of online fraudsters and arrested three accused person who used to cheat people for providing bank's Customer Service Point (CSP) under Govt E-governance Scheme by creating a fake website under government Jan-Dhan scheme.

Police identified the accused as Vishwajeet Singh (22), Vikas Kumar (19) and Sunny Shankar (24). They were arrested with the help of technical surveillance. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Vijayanta Arya said that a complaint was received in District Cyber Cell, North West Delhi wherein it was alleged that the victim applied on website cspbankmitra.in site for opening customer service point (CSP) under government e-governance scheme. "After some time, accused persons asked the complainant to deposit several amounts on different occasions in different Bank accounts for various charges and fees etc," said DCP Arya.

On behalf of the company, the complainant paid a total sum of Rs 4,89,300 to them. Thereafter, the accused persons switched off their mobile phone numbers. The complainant visited the given address of the company (on the alleged website) in West Bengal but no such company was found existing there.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they launched a fake website for opening customer service point under government e-governance scheme. "Vishwajeet Singh disclosed that he used to arrange different bank accounts from several persons and sold it to Sunny Shankar for transfer of cheated amount. He also arranged different mobile numbers for calling the customers," said DCP Arya.
