Three held, 510 Smart LED TVs recovered
NEW DELHI: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Crime Branch has nabbed three accused Vikas, Harender and Praveen, all residents of Sonepat and has recovered 510 Smart LED TVs in various sizes from their possession.
On February 14, Head Constable Sudhir Sharma and Head Constable Shahir Khan received secret information that a gang has cheated several shopkeepers of Old Lajpat Rai Market of around 700 Smart LED TVs, working on the information, it was revealed that the gang has escaped to Sonepat with the cheated goods. A case was also registered at Kotwali by one of the shopkeepers where it was reported that 120 LED TVs were reported to have been misappropriated.
The investigation revealed that the LED TVs were kept in a godown situated at Gohana Road, Sonepat, Haryana. The police team reached the spot where the informer identified three accused persons who had escaped with the LED TVs. The three accused persons were apprehended and at their instance, the godown was searched and 510 LED Smart TVs were recovered.
On interrogation, Vikas alias Vikky disclosed that he ran into losses due to betting in cricket matches and he was in dire need of money. Then he developed the idea to cheat shopkeepers of Old Lajpat Rai Market, who deals in LED TVs. Vikas was joined by Harendra and Praveen.
"Anil took a shop on rent in Old Lajpat Rai Market using fake documents and bought new SIM Cards. Harendra also adopted a fake name as Sunil and Anil started shop and sale & purchase of LED TVs by using cash payments after two months they were known to all the shopkeepers and had won their trust and finally, they collected 700 TVs and fled," said Rajiv Ranjan, Additional
