Three criminals nabbed in two shootouts in Ghaziabad, Noida

Ghaziabad/Noida: Three criminals, including one carrying a Rs 25,000 reward for his arrest, have been nabbed in two separate encounters in Noida and Ghaziabad.

Police on Monday said that all three criminals sustained bullet injuries in their leg, while a constable of Ghaziabad Police was also injured in the shootout.

In the first encounter, which took place in Dadri in Gautam Buddh Nagar district at around 11.45 pm Sunday, police nabbed a sharp shooter of the Sunder Bhati gang.

The accused was identified as Deepak alias Hapad, a native of Dadri's Jarcha village, cops added.

"Acting on a tip-off about movement of the accused, police conducted raid at suspected locations, following which the accused and his accomplice opened fire on the police party to evade arrest. When police retaliated, the accused sustained bullet injuries on his leg while his accomplice managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of darkness," said Ajay Pal Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police, Gautam Buddh Nagar.

He added that Deepak was carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 for his arrest and was wanted in over 22 cases of loot and attempt to murder.

In the second encounter, which took place early Monday morning in Raj Nagar Extension area of Ghaziabad, cops managed to nab two criminals wanted in several cases of murder and robbery.

The operation was carried out by a team of Ghaziabad Crime Branch and Sihani gate police station.

"Following a gun battle with criminals at around 5.30 am, two criminals identified as Suraj and Monu, natives of Hapur and Gautam Buddh Nagar districts, respectively, opened fire on police when they were intercepted.

"Police party retaliated and both the criminals sustained bullet injuries in their leg. A police constable also suffered injuries in the shootout and he is receiving treatment at a private hospital," said Upendra Kumar Aggarwal, SSP, Ghaziabad.
