This early bird voter aims to set new record

24-year-old Sanjar Abdul Hafeez is all set to make a new record. The exuberant young man has been more than willing to rise up early in the
morning and rush towards the polling booth on each polling day.

He claims he has been the 'first voter' to cast his vote at his booth in Jamia Nagar for the past some years. He says this gives him immense satisfaction.

"I got up at 6 am on Sunday and rushed to my polling booth. I am in a habit of voting first on the polling day. This might make me
unique but I do feel happy with it.

"The election officers greet me with a smile as I am their first Voter" Sanjar, an IT professional, replied with a grin.

He has been doing this for quite some time now.

Sanjar recalls how he rushed to the polling in the 2012 MCD elections to cast his vote and did the same in the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections.

"I want to make it a record for myself. Voting first is always fun and I just want to turn it into a habit. I feel dejected when I see a low voter turnout," Sanjar said.
