Thief arrested for stealing British citizen's purse in Metro

New Delhi: The Metro Unit of Delhi Police has arrested a thief identified as Manish, a resident of Sarojini Nagar, Delhi for stealing the purse of a British citizen consisting of 3 ATM Card and 3900 Sterling Pound, driving license and recovered Rs.3,18,000 (Three Lakhs Eighteen Thousand), which he has exchanged against stolen sterling pound from his possession.

The incident happened on February 1, a British citizen Marmar reported that while she was travelling in Delhi Metro somebody has stolen her violet valet consisting of 3 ATM card and 3900 starling pound, driving license at Rajouri Garden Metro

Station.

A case was immediately registered and an investigation was taken up. The CCTV footages was analyzed and a person stealing the purse of the complainant.

Apart from pasting pamphlets, the team members also showed the photographs of accused taken from the CCTV to many public persons including their informers.

Finally, the team members got information about the accused that someday ago he came to CT Square Mall and had a quarrel with a local shop keeper over the exchange of Rs.500 note.

Initially, he tried to mislead Police team but later he broke down and confessed that he committed the crime.

He disclosed that he on Ist February 2019 while he was present at Raja Garden Metro Station he noticed that the foreigner lady left her purse in a bench where she was sitting, he immediately took the purse containing sterling pound 3900, driving license, ATM cards etc and got exchanged the pound from a money changer at Janpath. He was immediately arrested.
