Thak Thak Gang who robbed Manoj Prabhakar's wife held

NEW DELHI: The Thak Thak gang members who robbed cricketer Manoj Prabhakar's wife Farheen Prabhakar while she was coming towards DLF Mall on January 19 have been arrested by Delhi Police.

Police said that when her car reached near red light opposite Max Hospital it was moving slowly, suddenly one person knocked on her front window of the passenger seat pointing downwards. She rolled down the glass when suddenly another boy started knocking on the front window near her.

She also rolled down the glass when the other person tried to pick up her purse lying on the seat, as her attention was diverted towards him the other person took her mobile phone which was lying on her lap. Both the person then crossed road and got into a Maruti EECO Van.

"The number was noted by a passerby. The van was found registered in the name of Laxmi Devi a resident of Shastri Park in North East, Delhi. Her husband was contacted who had sold the van to Harender a resident of Kaushalya Kunj Colony, Meerut in 2017. During the investigation it was found that a group of Meerut based Thak Thak Gang has committed the crime," said Vijay Kumar, DCP South Delhi.

Five accused persons have been arrested in the case. On the supplementary statement of victim section, 392 IPC has been added.

On interrogation, the accused Shahnawaz, Aijaz, Danish, Faheem and Harender have stated that every day in the morning they used to leave Meerut and then roam around in Delhi especially looking for vehicles in a traffic jam and the high-end mobile phones placed on the seat. They used to park their vehicle on other side and after executing, they cross the road and escape.
