Teachers to protest against commercialisation of colleges

New Delhi: Hundreds of teachers of colleges of Delhi University have decided to stage a protest against commercialisation of education by turning universities and colleges across the country into self-financing institution through "Graded Autonomy" and "Autonomous Colleges" on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Federation of Central Universities' Teachers' Associations (FEDCUTA) along with All India Federation of University and College Teachers' Organisations (AIFUCTO) have decided to observe a "black day" on August 22 and a court arrest at Jantar Mantar on September 5 to protest against the non declaration of the "Chauhan Pay Review Committee Report".
The protest organisers appealed to all the teachers to wear black armband on Tuesday.
The demand reads, "Declare Chauhan Pay Review Committee Report", no to contractualisation, regularise long serving ad hoc and temporary teachers, ensure the pension of superannuated teacher of 2004 and no to privatisation and commercialisation in garb of graded autonomy/autonomous colleges.
