Sweet shop vendor shot at in possible robbery attempt

Gururgam: In less than three weeks, Gururgam has witnessed yet another incident where a man walking on the streets was shot at. The latest incident was reported from Dundahera area in the city where the victim, a sweet shop vendor, identified as Mahender was shot at by unidentified assailants.

The incident took place at 10:30 pm when the victim who hails from Rajasthan had finished his work and was going back to his rented quarters. According to law enforcement officials, it was then that he was shot in his neck and abdomen.

As the condition of the victim is critical, the law enforcement officials have not been able to record the statement of the victim but claim this may be the case of failed burglary attempt. On their part, the Gurugram police have filed the case and begun retrieving the CCTV images so that they can identify the culprits involved in the act.

"We hope and pray the victim first recovers after which we will speak to him about the incident. We are searching for all the aspects of the case that may have led to him being shot at," said a senior official from Gurgram police.

The incident follows a shooting incident where a 28-year-old year who works as a cash operator in a telecom company was shot in broad daylight in Sector-14. Prior to this a truck driver was shot and robbed on National Highway-8.

Shockingly most of these incidents are happening not only in desolate places but also in crowded ones and that too during the rush hour.

The case of shootings is not a new phenomenon in Gurugram. There have been various incidents in the past where gangsters, property dealers, and even normal citizens have been eliminated as a result of pre planned attacks or

road rage.
