Sweeper sexually assaults minor girl in School

NEW DELHI: A minor girl of an MCD school in Shahdara district has been sexually assaulted by the staff of the school. The accused has been identified and arrested. The girl confided to her parents about the sexual assault on February 5 and the parents approached the police. The police immediately registered a case under POCSO and started the investigation. The girl was also sent for medical examination and counselling.

Soon, a police team was formed and the staff of the school was questioned. Based on the description by the child, the police zeroed in on the sweeper of the MCD school. After questioning, the sweeper who was working in the school was arrested. He is said to have admitted to his crime.

"We have arrested the accused. He is a sweeper in the school and we are also trying to verify if he was also involved in similar cases in the past. Though till now, he is denying his involvement in any other case," said a police officer.
