'Swachhta Hi Sewa' sanitation campaign launched in Delhi

New Delhi: The landscaping and beautification of landfills situated at Okhla in south, Bhalaswa in north and Ghazipur in east Delhi are to be carried out in a befitting manner by East, North and South Municipal Corporation of Delhi. This has been disclosed by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal while speaking after inaugurating a fortnight on Swacchta hi Sewa – Sanitation Campaign in New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area on Friday.
The L-G informed that the vacuum cleaning and mechanical sweeping equipments are being introduced in all Municipal Corporations of Delhi in order to make the roads of the Capital city neat and clean. And added that the necessary instructions for dispending the Dhalaos and enhancing the numbers of compactors have been given to all concerned to the local bodies.
He added that the public convenience facilities to women-folk and children have been extended free of cost in the hotels and restaurants located in the areas of all MCDs.
He said that celebrations of weeks and fortnight of sanitation does not serve the purpose till it becomes a regular exercise for each and every citizen of the nation in their daily life and the children shall play a vital role towards that direction.
Lauding the steps taken by the NDMC with regard to sanitation, installation of Sewer Treatment Plants (STPs), smart toilets, mobile App based Public Grievance Redressal System, the LG said that all the three Corporations should follow the footprints of Council in this direction.
