Subedar-Major hangs self in Vasant Vihar
New Delhi: A serving army officer of Subedar-Major rank allegedly committed suicide in Vasant Vihar on Monday evening. The police reached the spot and foud the major hanging from the ceiling fan in his apartment. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead. It was not clear why he committed suicide. However the police said that he has not blamed anyone for this extreme step. Identified as Jeevan Sunder Baruah, the Subedar-Major was posted in Kashmir House and was a resident of Assam.
"After reaching the spot/ in Shankar vihar, it was found that person namely JC Baruah Sub Major who was working at EIC Kashmiri house Rajaji Marg age 51 years committed suicide with help of chhuni tied at ceiling fan hook. Legal action is being taken," said DCP South West Devender Arya. A suicide note has also been recovered. However, he has not blamed anyone for his extreme step. The investigating teams have intimated his family and started investigation. It is still not clear why he took the extreme step. The body has been sent for postmortem.
