Students' union prez of DU college found hanging, police suspect suicide
New Delhi: A 22-year-old man ,the president of Ram Lal Anand College student union, was found hanging at his home in Nanakpura area. The investigating agency said that they did not recovered any suicide note.
According to police at around 1.37 pm on Thursday the staff of South Campus police station reached Nanakpura and found the body of Utakarsh Sharma lying on the room with knot on the neck.
"His brother Udit Sharma told that his father went to UP with all family. Utakarsh was alone in house. When around 10.45 pm his father called but Utakarsh didn't respond. His brother rushed from Palam and found the house locked from inside," police said.
The officer further added that he broke open the house and found Utakarsh was hanging. He cut the ligature and found Utakarsh dead. "He is the president of Ram Lal Anand college. No suicide note recover," added the officer. He was doing BA 3rd year with political science.
The principal of the college, Rakesh Kumar Gupta, recalled Sharma as a smiling student.
"I came to know about it. He was a good student and I had spoken to him around May 21-22 and he had told me his exams went well. He always had a smiling face," Gupta told PTI.
Minali Gupta, vice-president of the students' union, said she got to know about the incident through fellow students and was saddened.
"We had a brief interaction on May 21, the last day of the exam. I do not know what forced him to take such an extreme step. It is saddening to hear this piece of news," she said. WITH Agencies INPUTS
