Students run riot after being expelled for molestation

Gurugram: It was a scene of mayhem at a government school in Sohna on the outskirts of Gurugram after a group of students and their friends began pelting stones and destroying the school property.

The entire incident transpired after seven students were expelled for molesting a girl from 11th standard. Not happy with the act, they called their relatives and began the circle of violence causing injuries to teachers and the passerby. What made the matter worse was the retaliatory attack by other students that further resulted in more injuries to the people outside and inside the school premises.

The situation was finally brought under control after the Sohna police reached the spot and made certain arrests in the case. As of now, the Sohna police has arrested seven people in the case and also detained others in the cases of rioting. The police have also formed a team to find out who else was involved in the violence and the destruction of the public property. Meanwhile, all those who have been injured have been admitted to the nearby hospitals for treatment. Those who have sustained severe injuries have been referred to Gurugram facilities.

"We have registered the cases under the following section and begun the investigations. We have also made certain arrests in the case. To begin with, the matter was related to a few boys in the schools being expelled for molestation. Being angry about what had happened to them they informed their friend and relatives and began destroying the public property. What made the matter even worse was the retaliatory attack by the students and teachers who did not want to get cowed down by the attack," said a senior police official from Sohna Police.

It is important to note that incidents of violence are not a new phenomenon in government schools of Haryana.
