Strict vigil continues in parts of Mewat

Gurugram: The district administration continued to keep a strict vigilance in several areas of Mewat, a day after Supreme Court delivered its judgement on the Ayodhya title dispute. Over nine companies consisting of over 1100 officials have been tasked with the responsibility of maintaining the law and order.

In order to make citizens assured that the situation was under control, flag marches were also conducted by the security officials. However, no untoward incidents have been reported from the district

so far.

The security agencies in the district have assured the residents that things will begin to calm down from Monday onwards. Not only on the ground but the public administration also is keeping an eye on the digital front. A special team has been formed in Gurugram that is monitoring any form of abuse, fake news or provocative statements being circulated on a sensitive issue.

"The netizens have been very mature in how they are perceiving the judgment. Even though there have been a few odd cases, no serious cases as such have been reported. We are continuously monitoring the situation on the cyber front," said a senior official from Gurugram police.

Not only in Mewat but there was strict surveillance within Gurugram with law enforcement officials and senior officials from the district administration constantly making rounds and monitoring the situation. Some of the areas where the law enforcement officials could be found included Gurugram Railway station, Sadar Bazaar, Jacobpura and Pataudi Chowk.

"The situation in Gurugram has never been that bad but we did not want to take chances. Moreover, it is the Gurugram residents who have displayed great maturity in their behaviour. The incidents of people bursting crackers in jubilation or being excited and creating lawlessness was

absolutely negligible," said a senior official from Gurugram police.
