Spurned lover kills married woman who turned him down

New Delhi: In less than two weeks, north west Delhi witnessed the second case where a jilted lover killed a married woman after she refused to marry him.

Delhi Police on Sunday said that the incident was reported on Saturday and the culprit Ravi has been nabbed the culprit and charged him with murder.

Cops said the incident came to light on Saturday afternoon around 2.30 pm, when a PCR call was made where the caller informed about the suicide of a young woman, which was later found to be a murder.

A team from Bhalswa Dairy police station reached the spot where the woman was found strangulated, and a case of murder was registered at the station.

Susequently, a team was formed to crack the case. "During the investigation, we came to know about a person named Ravi who was harassing the woman and later upon nabbing, confessed the killing," said DCP (North West) Aslam Khan.

The senior officer further stated that the accused murdered the woman as he was in love with her, but she had no involvement with him.

"When the lady did not accept his proposal, he decided to murder her," she added.

The woman's husband, who is a vegetable vendor, told police that he usually leaves home in the morning and comes home in the afternoon for lunch.

Taking advantage of the husband's absence, the accused barged inside her house around 1 pm on Saturday and strangulated her to death after a heated argument.
