Speeding UPSRTC bus crushes boy to death
Ghaziabad: In a tragic incident, a 19-year-old boy was crushed to death by a speeding UPSRTC bus at Vijay Nagar bypass in the wee hours on Thursday. Police officials said that the incident occurred when the victim was going for the delivery of newspaper on his cycle to his daily customers.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Amit Pal, a resident of Vijay Nagar area. He was hit by a Sikandrabad depot UPSRTC bus plying between Delhi and Kapur. "The incident occurred around 6:30 am at Vijay Nagar by pass on Thursday. A passerby informed police and a team rushed to the spot. The body was taken to police custody and sent for an autopsy," said Shyamvir Singh, Station House officer of Vijaynagar police station.
The officer further said that the driver and conductor of speeding bus managed to flee the spot while a case has been registered in the matter.
"Police have seized the bus involved in the incident while the driver and conductor managed to flee the spot. A case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) has been registered against the unidentified bus driver. We are conducting investigations into the case while efforts are being made to trace the bus driver as well," added Singh.
A senior police officer said that Pal was eldest among the three children and was the only son of his family. He had recently appeared in intermediate exams from UP board and was distributing newspapers during his holidays. He is now survived by his two
younger sisters.
