Special Cell busts interstate heroin cartel, arrests three men

New Delhi: The Delhi Police Special Cell on Monday stated they have busted an interstate drug cartel with the arrest of three men, and recovered from them 5 kg of high-grade heroin worth over Rs 20 crore in the international market.
According to police, the accused were identified as Ram Nath (26), Virender Pal Singh (29) and Parvej Khan (64).
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Yadav told reporters on Monday that Ram Nath and Singh were arrested on February 13, after cops were tipped off that the duo would come to Bhagwan Mahavir Marg, towards Barwala-Prahladpur Road.
Meanwhile, Khan, the kingpin of the gang, was arrested on February 17 from his village Chandaura in Badaun, UP.
"Northern Range of Special Cell has busted several such cartels in the recent past and recovered more than 50 kg of high-grade heroin. Sleuths of Special Cell of Northern Range had developed information about key members of the cartel, who used to procure the contraband from drug suppliers of West Bengal and Manipur," said the DCP.
He added that there are certain areas in West Bengal and in hilly terrains of Manipur where people cultivate opium illegally and process it into a pure form of heroin, which is transported to Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand through carriers.
"Members of this cartel procured pure heroin from said drug suppliers and also crude heroin from drug suppliers of Manipur and West Bengal and further processed the same into pure heroin at their hideouts," Yadav further said.
Police claimed that Ram Nath, whose financial condition is poor, was lured into the business by Singh, notorious for drug trafficker in Badaun, to earn easy money. Ram Nath had first become involved in trafficking of narcotic drugs about two years ago.
"Khan disclosed that he is previously involved in various criminal cases including cases under sections of the Uttar Pradesh Gunda Act and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act case," police said.
