Spat at marriage party turns ugly, youth killed with cricket wicket

NEW DELHI: A scuffle at a marriage function in South Delhi took an ugly turn on November 19 when a 25-year-old man was brutally murdered by two brothers in Tigri area of South Delhi. Police said that the two accused and the victim were attending a marriage party of a distant relative at Lado Sarai on Monday night where a quarrel ensued between them. The matter was resolved by the interference of some friends and elders initially but the quarrel reoccurred once all of them got back from the marriage.

However, when the father of the accused Rahul and Deepak, both brothers went to discuss the matter with the victim Ajay's family, the victim reportedly abused him to which Rahul and Deepak took an offence to. This aggravated the matter and both brothers pledged revenge.

Delhi police received a call about the quarrel in H Block, SBI road, Tigri and upon inquiry found that the inured was shifted to a Delhi hospital in severe condition. During the treatment, the victim identified as Ajay succumbed to his injuries. He was attacked by knife and a cricket bat mercilessly by the two brothers. "Their father insult led the brother's duo Rahul and Deepak to go to the house of Ajay and fatally assault him with a knife and cricket wicket. The victim succumbed to his injuries, we have registered a case under section 302,34 IPC against the accused," said DCP South Vijay Kumar. The accused Rahul and Deepak both resident of JJ Camp, Tigri have been arrested in the case and the weapon of offence has been recovered by Delhi Police.
