Son-in-law, friend arrested for running man over with truck

Greater Noida: The Gautam Buddh Nagar have police arrested a man, and his accomplice, for murdering his father-in-law and critically injuring his wife by running them over with a truck in Surajpur area of Greater Noida, police said on Sunday.

According to police, the accused has been identified as Kaushal Kishor Dixit, and his accomplice as Shailendra Dixit, both natives of Kannauj district.

"The incident took place on December 23, 2017, near Gulistanpur area. The accused, travelling in a truck along with his friend, crushed his wife and father-in-law. While the elderly man succumbed to his injuries, the woman was critically injured. Police registered a case based on the complaint given by victim's family," said Akhilesh Pradhan, SHO, Surajpur police station.

The victims were identified as wife Vineeta and her father Harikishan.

"Acting on a tip, the arrest was made from Durga roundabout area late Saturday night. Upon interrogation, the accused told police that the murder was planned in such a way that it looked like an accident" added Pradhan.

The accused reportedly told police that he wanted to eliminate his wife over suspicions of illicit relations, and also her father for taking her side whenever the couple argued.
