Snatchers kill gang leader after fight over sharing stolen money

New Delhi: The dispute in the sharing of looted amount resulted in the murder of gang leader by his associates near Mundka Railway Station.

Police have arrested two accused and apprehended two juveniles in the case. The whole gang was involved in more than 20 cases of snatching, theft and related crime incidents.

Police said that after consuming drugs, the gang leader Gaurav with his four associates identified as Ankit, Gautam besides two juveniles with weapons roamed around railway tracks or sometimes they entered trains passing through Sarai Rohilla and Sabji Mandi railway stations route.

"They used to commit theft, snatching with railway passengers," an official said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railway) Dinesh Kumar Gupta said that on the intervening night of October 9-10 at about 10 pm, all five were assembled at Mundka Railway Station. They consumed liquor and drugs, after 12 am, all the five proceeded on the railway track on the down line towards Nangloi side.

"When they were nearing to Hind Vihar Railway Crossing, Gaurav started using abusive languages shouting that he is the leader of the gang as such his share in the looted amount should be at least double of the share of other gang members," said DCP Gupta.

Adding further, he said that the other associates objected to his abuse and demand. Owing to this, Gaurav took out his knife and started wilding towards all of them and in the meantime, he gave a blow on the left eye side of Ankit.

During this process, Ankit also sustained minor injury from Gourav's knife. In retaliation, all the four overpowered Gaurav and stabbed knife on his vital body parts.
