Snatcher who targeted women 'after dark' held

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police Crime Branch has apprehended a snatcher who used to target ladies in the dark hours to evade being caught. He used to snatch their mobiles when he saw women strolling in the lanes and bylanes at night.

The accused Mohit is a resident of Nand Nagri and has several cases of theft and snatching registered against him.

One stolen motorcycle and six snatched mobile phones recovered from his possession.

One suspect Salim alias Mendak, a resident of Sunder Nagri, is a BC of Nand Nagri formed a gang for snatching of mobile phones and auto lifting who also provides stolen motorcycles to his gang members for snatching of mobile phones and he takes half of the share from the sold stolen mobile phones.

"Accused Mohit is unemployed and he joined the gang of Salim to make quick money. Salim facilitated him by providing him stolen motorcycle for snatching. Mohit along with his friend Yogesh Mota started snatching of mobile phones from ladies during dark hours. After that, they used to sell these mobile phones to innocent people and they used to give half of the amount to Salim. In case of their arrest, Salim also used to help them in getting bail," said DCP Crime Ram Gopal Naik.
