Snag hits Metro services for two hours at Magenta Line

New Delhi: Services on Delhi Metro's Magenta Line were disrupted during rush hours on Friday evening. after a technical snag hit the 24.82-km stretch between Kalkaji Mandir and Janakpuri West.

Delhi Metro officials said that services were disrupted around 4.20 pm, due to problems in the overhead electrification (OHE) on the line between RK Puram and IGI T1 Airport Metro stations.

As a result, only single-line operation were carried out between RK puram and IGI Terminal 1, which led to delay.

Delhi Metro also ran two loop services from either sides of the corridor, from the botanical Garden to RK Puram and from Janakpuri West to IGI Airport Terminal 1.

Services were normalised around 6.40 pm, the spokesperson added.

Commuters who were stranded for hours this evening poured in their anger on Twitter, blaming authorities for 'mismanagement'

Aditya, on Twitter, said that the Metro at Magenta Line was stuck at IIT station for the past one hour. 'Are we we paying for this kind of service?' he asked.

'Trains on Magenta line were running terribly slow in the evening, but there was no announcement from DMRC for the reason behind the delay or by when can be a short delay to this service. The short delay turned out to be delay of nearly on hours,' said a commuter.
