Six dacoits held for robbing a cantor

With the arrest of six men, Delhi Police has claimed to have busted a gang of highway truck robbers who were allegedly involved in the attempted truck jacking on July 30 and later fled with copper scrap valued over Rs 40 lakh.
The six accused have been identified as Rishi Kumar, Rohit, Sonu, Saleem, Dharam Singh and Rakesh Kumar.
The accused were arrested after the police received information that the group would be around Ruchi Vihar to conduct a recce for another robbery they were planning.
Upon their interrogation, when the police confronted them with the facts of the July 30 case, the accused confessed to their involvement and said they kept an eye on its movement.
According to police, on the night of the incident, the six accused inside a Maruti Swift Dzire car intercepted a cantor truck which was on its way to Rajasthan from Mandoli with copper scrap.
"The call was made by the driver. Two of the accused had overpowered him and tried to drive away the cantor truck. One of the vehicles tailing the cantor also belonged to the same company and the occupants of the vehicle started to raise an alarm the minute they saw the six men try to drive way with the cantor," said a police officer.
The accused later drove away with the truck driver and his helper as a hostage and later dumped them at an isolated spot in Gurugram.
The accused have further told the police that they knew about the movements of the canter truck on the basis of an insider information.
