Six arrested for looting jeweller in South Delhi

New Delhi: Six people have been arrested for looting and being involved in a conspiracy to rob a jeweller in Hauz Khas area.

The two accused who were nabbed first have been identified as Bharat Saini and Tarun Kumar, both residents of Delhi. Later, the other four men were arrested. They were involved in robbing a jeweller in Hauz Khas.

On November 26, at about 11 pm when an employee along with the jeweller Amarnath were going home after closing the shop and carrying some golden ornaments in a bag, four boys who were in a Beat car hit Amarnth on his head with a country-made pistol, robbed the bag and ran away from the spot.

During the investigation of the case, around 25 CCTV footages were collected from the vicinity.

While trailing the movement of the car, one footage was collected around one kilometre away from the place of incident. The number of the car now in this footage was more clear. It was found in UP.

The details of the Beat car from the transport authority Ghaziabad were collected. There were around 50 cars matching the information of Beat cars. Later, Bharat and Tarun were arrested.

"Their interrogation revealed that Tarun and Bharat were in debt and need money. Tarun's in-laws live in Masjid Moth and he used to see the movement of the jeweller. Hence, he decided to rob him as he was the soft target for him. They have contact with Kapil—a criminal of Meerut and hence, they discussed the plan with him. On the day of the incident, he brought with him some of his associates to commit the crime, later with the help of UP police four more men were arrested," said DCP South Vijay Kumar.
