Since 2018, 30 persons booked under MCOCA

New Delhi: Since 2018, the Delhi Police have arrested 30 persons under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). The law enforcement agency has initiated 17 proposals under MCOCA.

Police sources told Millennium Post that the Delhi Police Commissioner in the recent meeting reviewed the action taken by districts and units under MCOCA. The meeting was held in

May.

Sources further revealed that as many as 26 persons were nabbed in 2018 whereas till May 15, the city police arrested four persons.

"One of the units nabbed 19 persons last year under the act whereas two districts nabbed seven persons," added

sources.

More than a dozen cases were registered by city police last year.

Sources further stated that the law enforcement agency has identified four snatchers, 18 robbers and 13 other criminals who may be booked under MCOCA.

As many as 17 proposals have been initiated against criminals.

In a press statement, Delhi Police said that special cell, in order to curb illegal activities and to contain violence by criminals indulging in criminal activities in Delhi, has booked them under MCOCA in the recent past.

"MCOCA was initially enacted by the Maharastra Govt in the year 1999 to contain the criminal activities of the underworld criminals, which was adopted in Delhi in the year 2002," said Delhi Police.
