Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad demands police security after death threats
New Delhi: Shia Cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad Naqvi along with prominent members of Anjuman-e-Haidri had demanded security from Delhi Police citing death threats allegedly from Waqf land mafia. In an application given to Delhi Police Commissioner's office the organisation has demanded that round the clock protection should be provided to Maulana Kalbe Jawad and some members of the organisation as they have been vocal against the alleged malpractices at the waqf land in Karbala, Jog Bagh in South Delhi.
The demand for security came days after an active member of Save waqf Movement Shabbar Zaidi was gunned down by unidentified assailants on Monday morning just outside his residence in Hajipur Behta, Uttaranchal Vihar in Loni, Ghaziabad. Zaidi was shot multiple times in broad daylight whe he was out for a morning
walk. Though Zaidi, a retired Head constable also dealt in property in Loni, the murder according to police seems to be a fallout of property dispute.
Though the Anjuman e Haideri suspects that Zaidi could have been gunned down allegedly by waqf Mafia because of his active participation against their activities. Recently, Anjuman-e-Haideri had won a case and gained the possession of land worth several crores including a plant nursery at Jorbagh Karbala. The organisation on 25 March held a huge conference which was attended by prominent Shias and Sunni scholars. Amidst thousands of people it was pledged to liberate all waqf land from encroachments all over the country. "Shabbar Zaidi too attended the conference and also felicitated dignitaries like Maulana kalbe Jawad on the occasion but was murdered the next day," said Bahadur Abbas, general secretary Anjuman-e-
Haideri. The application also requested the Delhi Police to investigate the matter in coordination with the UP police investigating Shabbar Zaidi's murder.
