Sharpshooters arrested, murder bid foiled

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Friday said that they have arrested two sharpshooters and foiled a murder bid. Police identified the accused as Manish (30) and Manoj (27). Two sophisticated pistols and four live cartridges were recovered.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr G Ramgopal Naik said the accused were arrested on the basis of information that two accomplices of Ravi Gangwar would come in between 6 PM - 7 PM from Karni Singh shooting Range and go towards Mehrauli side to commit the murder of their rival identified as Duddy. A trap was laid and the accused were nabbed.

The team of STARS-1 (Crime Branch) under the leadership of Inspector Kuldeep Singh and overall supervision of Ms Shweta Chauhan, ACP, Crime Branch made the arrest. DCP Naik further added that accused Manish is a history-sheeter of Sangam Vihar police station and was involved in many heinous cases including double murder case of Neb Sarai police station in association with Ravi Gangwar and others. "He was in jail, since February 2019 in firing cases of Tigri police station. During his period in jail, a scuffle took place between criminal Duddy, who is in jail in a murder case and him. He was released from jail a few days back and he along with his associates Manoj decided to eliminate a family member of Duddy to take revenge," police said.

The accused stole the bike and procured illegal arms for this purpose. During interrogation, the accused Manoj has disclosed that he is in need of money. For this, he started committing crimes.
