Shahdara DCP office has library, special zone for children

The new Shahdara DCP office now rolls out several reasons for the local people to turn boring official meetings into an enthralling visit. The office has been made full WiFi along with children's zone and a library.

The children residing in the jurisdiction of Shahdara who often accompany their parents to the office will now have their own space for merrymaking as the park is filled with colourful swings and SeeSaws. Also, this innovative method will flatten the often felt friction between cops and the residents.

"It is more of a public service office and not merely a DCP office. We have made it children friendly, senior citizens friendly place where they could feel at ease," said Nupur Prasad, DCP Shahdara.

The new DCP office Shahdara was inaugurated by Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik. Special CP Law and order (South ) P Kamraj, Special CP (operations) Depeendra Pathak and Joint CP Eastern Range Ravinder Yadav were also present on the occasion.

"Considering the crime pattern and high population density in Trans-Yamuna region, a new district has been carved out with the purpose of enhancing the reach of the police and to improve the public satisfaction through better service delivery," said Amulya Patnaik, CP Delhi.

The DCP office has set up a library which is likely to attract the senior citizens. The office is a home to a wide collection of books which will allow the visitors to spend quality time.

According to Prasad, this move will help in building trust. "We want to eliminate the fear in the minds of people while entering

the DCP office. Senior citizens visiting the library will create a positive impression of the police," she added.

Shahdara District was carved out from East and North East District of Delhi. It started functioning from January 1 2017.

It comprises of 10 Police stations namely Vivek Vihar, Anand Vihar, Gandhi Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Geeta Colony, Farsh Bazar (carved out from East District)

and police stations Shahdara, MS Park, Seema Puri, GTB Enclave (carved out from North East District).
