Sex determination clinic busted

Gurugram: The district health department on Wednesday busted a sex determination clinic that was operational in West Delhi's Janakkpuri.
Three men including an agent and doctors have been arrested. Based on a tip-off that a clinic of this sort was operational in the Capital, a trap was laid by the public officials. After tracking the clinic, a decoy customer got in touch with the agent who took them to the clinic. After it was ascertained that the clinic was indulging in illegal act, the raid was conducted leading to the arrests.
In order to terminate their girl child, most of the parents visit the abortion and sex determination clinics. The crackdown by the state government has resulted in the parents frequenting to places like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi.
In a major impetus to Haryana government's initiative for Gurugram that for long had a dubious distinction of having the worse sex ratio figures is now showing a marked improvement. According to the latest figure released by the district health department in September, the data was recorded at 965 females to 1000 males.
According to the officials of the district health department, there were total of 2182 children that were born in which 1,110 were boys and 1,072
were girls.
Speaking on the 51st anniversary of the creation of Haryana, Chief Minister ML Khattar asserted that the state was able to improve its sex ratio to 937 females for every 1000 males.
