Servant runs away with 3 kg gold, nabbed

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police arrested a man who ran away with 3 kg gold given to him by his employer jeweller in Chandni Chowk to deposit it. However, the man identified as Ashish yadav, a resident of district Gaya in Bihar fled with the gold and went into hiding.

"He was entrusted with two boxes containing Mangalsutra chain and pendant total weight approx 3 kg of gold with direction to return at the given address. However, he did not return it and ran away with the boxes. A case under 408 IPC was registered on the complaint of the owner of jewellery showroom and investigation was started," said Nupur Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North.

The investigation revealed that the 23-year-old accused was employed just a month before he fled with the jewellery box.

A police team was constituted immediately and sent to home address of accused Ashish Yadav at Gaya, Bihar. On January 16, accused Ashish Yadav was arrested with the help of local police and complete case property was recovered from his home.

Police said that he fled to make easy money and was in the process of disposing of the stolen gold before the Delhi Police team from Lahori gate nabbed him. Accused was taken on one-day transit remand and produced before the concerned court on Thursday sent him to Judicial custody till January 31.
