Seemapuri to get a facelift as Diwali gift

NEW DELHI: Delhi's Seemapuri area is to get a makeover before Diwali, the MLA of the constituency and Delhi Social Welfare minister Rajendra Pal Gautam said on Wednesday.
Gautam on Wednesday chaired a meeting with civic agencies, the Public Works Department (PWD) and other departments to draw an action plan of the development works.
The minister has received many complaints from local people that due to illegal encroachment on footpath, many accidents occur in the area. The locals also complained of poor condition of some drains, which lead to several health issues.
The PWD will repair footpaths and get rid of encroachments on pavements, while the Delhi Jal Board will take down all water connections older than 30 years, in addition to repairing of all street lights in the constituency before Diwali.
During the meeting, the minister instructed that all these things should be done before Diwali.
According to sources, Gautam asserted that he wanted to gift a developed constituency to the people before the festival of lights. The concerned departments have taken note of the issues and asserted that they will start work from the next week.
The minister has also asked senior officials of the departments to monitor the development process.
