Security up in Noida after communal tension

Noida: Communal tension broke out in Sector 9 area of Noida, on Friday, after some people alleged that Lord Shiva's Trishul (Trident) placed at a podium was vandalised by the people of other communities early in night. A massive police force was deployed in the area in order to ensure a state of law and order.

The place of worship used by the Hindus for Durga Puja is located adjacent to a mosque.

On Friday morning at around 11, when some worshippers reached the spot, they found that the Trishul was bending down and immediately informed other people about the mishap. The information spread like a wildfire and a massive crowd thronged into the spot. They alleged that the people from Muslim community have vandalized the structure as they never wanted a Hindu's place of worship near to a mosque as it will create a disturbance for them. Both the mosque and the Hindu's place of worship are built on Noida Authority's land.

According to people, the mosque has been built on Noida Authority's land few years ago, in the rein of former Samajwadi Party government. The vacant place on the other side of the mosque is used by the Hindu community.

This year, the people from Hindu community built a permanent cemented structure at which the Trishul was placed and a cemented Havan Kund has also been built by them at the spot.

Before the mob could turn violent, local MLA Pankaj Singh, city magistrate Mahendra Singh and senior police officials reached the spot within few hours and pacified the people from both the communities. The MLA performed the puja at the spot and calmed people.

"A large number of police personnel have been deployed in the area to avoid any mishap. Strict actions will be taken against those who will try to create any nuisance in the area. The members of both the communities have been pacified and a meeting has been conducted between them peacefully," said Abhinandan, circle officer, Noida.

Meanwhile the city magistrate, Mahendra Singh said "we have found that both the structures are built on the land of Noida authority. We will inform the authority to act against the illegal encroachments".
