Search on for other victims of Ggn rape-murder culprit

Gurugram: Police have claimed that Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana are among the states where Sunil Kumar – arrested on Monday from Jhansi for the rape-murder of a three-year-old in Gurugram – raped and killed many other girls over the last five years.

Taking cognisance of the severity of the crime committed by Kumar, Gurugram Police has formed a special investigating team, headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Usha Kundu.

It will, however, be a big challenge for law enforcement officials to prove all these crimes in the court of law.

These rape-murders are believed to have taken place between 2013 and 2018.

According to sources, even though Kumar has confessed to having committed these heinous crimes, he has not yet identified or revealed all the victims that he targetted during this period.

Gurugram Police is now collaborating with cops of other states to get concrete evidence of the paedophile murder.

Though there are reports that Kumar is a drug addict, sources claimed that he used to carry out his crimes in a very planned and clever way.

According to the law enforcement officials in the National Capital Region, the accused used to rape the girls, kill them and then dump their bodies in areas as far away as possible from the scene of the crime.

As he worked menial jobs for a living, it was easy for Kumar to escape the police net and flee to areas of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, where he continued with his barbaric acts.

His tactic of evading cops could have even succeeded in his recent crime, where he raped and murdered a three-year-old girl and fled to Jhansi, MP. However, as he had stalking the deceased minor for some time, her parents were able to identify him.

He was ultimately caught by police a week after committing the crime. Senior police officials said that Kumar belongs to Mahoba district of UP.

Another issue that could hamper Kumar's prosecution is that he only 20 years of age, which technically means that most of his crimes were committed when he was a juvenile.

However, sources said that documents have been retrieved that show him to have been born in January 1995.

Gururgam Police have gained custody of Kumar for six days, during which more details could emerge.
