SDMC tightens grip over parking rule violators

New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has claimed to tighten its grip over violators of the rules pertaining to parking, littering and plastic bags. It has been noticed that action taken during the month of October 2017 proved to be deterrent.
It may be recalled that a special drive was conducted by General Branches of the Zones under SDMC and Traffic Police resulted in curbing the incidents of wrong and unauthorized parking on metalled road and footpath.
As far as Central Zone is concerned on the spot 140 challans against littering were issued and an amount of Rs 9000 as fine. 194 challans for insanitary conditions issued by Municipal court resulted in collection of Rs. 2, 99,300 as fine. Further 14 vehicles were seized for violation of parking rules. Similarly, in West Zone 139 challans for littering were issued and an amount of Rs 6950 was collected as fine. Further 108 vehicles were seized for violation of parking rules. 35 kg poly bags were seized, 24 challans were issued and an amount of Rs 1,20,000 was recovered as fine.
In South Zone on the spot 39 challans against littering were issued and an amount of Rs. 1950 was collected as fine. 324 Challans for insanitary conditions were issue by Municipal court and an amount of Rs.3, 99,400 were collected. 4 challans were issued against burning of leaves/ garbage under NGT Act an amount of Rs. 20,000 was collected.
Further continuing action against unauthorized parking 182 cars were fined on the spot and an amount of Rs. 2, 08,452 was recovered. As far as Najafgarh Zone 47 on the spot challans were issued against littering resulting in collection of Rs 2350 as fine.
Further 52 kg poly bags were seized and 22 challans were issued resulting in collection of Rs. 1.1 lakh as fine.
