SDMC removes floating materials from 156 drains

New Delhi: SDMC on Friday removed floating materials from drains and nallahs. Apart from this, challans were slapped against burning waste, rubber and plastic in all four zones. The drains and nallahs at Bijwasan, Pochanpur, Vikas Nagar, Kadipur Stadium, Tihar Village, Defence Colony, Madangir C Block, M Block Saket, Sunday Market Aya Nagar, Sector 4 Pusp Vihar, B-3 Safdarjung Enclave, IG Camp Sunder Nursery etc have been cleaned and silt has been taken out in large quantity. A total of 156 drains–54 in West Zone, 52 in South Zone, 35 in Central Zone and 15 drains in Najafgarh Zone were taken up for cleaning.

DEMS department, while taking action against floating materials and burning at different places, moved in 137 localities. 60 challans in 52 localities under South Zone, 70 challans in 41 colonies under West Zone, 20 challans in 12 localities under Najafgarh Zone and 57 challans in 32 localities under Central Zone have been issued. During the first three days under this month in West Zone, 193 challans have been issued which includes 76 NGT challans for building material and Malba, 61 burning challans, 8 mobile challans 76 general challans and 42 night challans.
