SDMC organises 'stop littering' drive in 167 markets, 343 challans issued

New Delhi: SDMC on Thursday carried a sanitation drive against littering in all four zones. The sanitation employees collected garbage from 57 markets in west zone, 32 in central zone, 28 in Nazafgarh zone and 50 in South Zone.

In all action against littering was taken on Thursday simultaneously in 167 markets resulting in slapping total 343 chit chalans. The maximum 187 chalans have been issued in South Zone whereas the minimum 33 in Nazafgarh zone.

74 chalans have been issued in Central Zone and another 49 in West Zone. Under such chit chalans the violator is supposed to be present in the Court of Magistrate and becomes liable to pay in cash fine determined there in the court.

SDMC Commissioner Puneet Kumar Goel has asked the Sanitation Inspectors and Assistant Sanitation Inspectors at Zonal levels to sincerely work under Special Sanitation Drives to be organized every day.

He has said that serious efforts are needed every day to give a desired pace to the cleanliness drives.

Goel has asked DEMS to organize special theme based sanitation drives every day.

A few days back the focus was on religious places and on Wednesday air and dust pollution were focused.

Similarly, Special Theme oriented drives should be conducted on regular basis. Dr Goel has appealed to the general public to render their constructive contribution in Special Sanitation Drives to be organized every day focusing special themes.

This sort of Special Drive has been organized for the first time to inculcate habit of not littering here and there and make general public aware about the consequences of littering.

This campaign will definitely disseminate a special message among markets where campaign against littering was conducted today. The major markets are Nehru Place, Amar Colony, Jangpura, Sector 4 Dwarka and Sector 10 Dwarka Market.
