SDMC Mayor flags off 4 new litter picker machines

New Delhi: SDMC Mayor Narendra Chawla on Thursday flagged off four new litter picker jatayu machines to accelerate cleaning on footpaths in various markets. He said that SDMC has been using 18 road sweeping machines for cleanliness exercise on roads but cleanliness at foot path is still being undertaken by Safaai Karamcharies.

The new Jatayu machines will collect garbage in substantial quantity in one go from footpaths in various markets, central verge and various markets. This will help in undertaking sanitation and cleanliness work in better way and as per requirement of the SDMC resulting in desired improvement. He added that present 18 road sweeping machines will continue to remove garbage.

The Mayor expressed hope that with deployment of new jatayu machines the efficiency of the DEMS Department will improve further. The new machines are aided with advanced powerful suckers which enable to collect garbage in large quantity from the footpath on the markets.

The new litter picker jatayu machines have been procured after evaluation of the requirement. The cost of one machine is Rs 12 lakh. The more such machines will be procured in due course after taking into consideration utility of the machines performance.
