SDMC implements steps to tackle air pollution

New Delhi: Keeping in view the emerging severe smog and in compliance of the court directions, in order to tackle the emergent situation, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has started action against burning of solid waste, garbage, dry leaves, plastic, rubber and construction activities. Apart from this spraying water for cleaning and appropriately washing of the roads to make the dust to settle down is also being taken up in all localities across SDMC.
During intensified action against the defaulters/ offenders for burning of solid waste, leaves etc and construction activities during November 9 to 13, as many as 135 challans have been issued for burning of solid waste, garbage, dry leaves, plastic, rubber and 233 challans have been issued against defaulters for construction activities and dust on the roads. The amount realized against challans for burning of solid waste, garbage, dry leaves, plastic, rubber is Rupees Seven lakh whereas in respect of construction activities and dust an amount of Rupees One Crore Sixteen laky Fifty thousand has been realized.
To ensure proper spraying of water for settling down of dust SDMC deployed 14 Departmental vehicles, 7 Tractor with water tanker, 15 Mechanical road sweepers , 890 Knapsacks, 15 Motorized pump, 3 Power spray tankers.
