SDMC approves eight parking sites

New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Tuesday said that commercial vehicles and private buses in large numbers are being parked in different places on various roads resulting in long traffic jams and choking normal life. The public buses and commercial vehicles are found parked during the period of non-operation and off-duty hours, as they are bound to park their vehicles at roadsides or on streets. In order to tackle this nuisance, SDMC has identified eight sites for parking of these vehicles in Jurisdiction of the South Body.

Further, the Corporation's Standing Committee has also approved parking rates.

Chairperson, Standing Committee, Shikha Rai said that these eight sites have been identified. The sites are near Scope Complex, Lodhi road; outside Tihar Jail; near Kabristan Saket; CC Janakpuri, Janak Cinema; Appu Ghar; Parking site at Jasola; Parking site at Dwarka Sector-13 and Sector-14 metro station and parking site at Iscon Temple.

She also said that the parking rates are inclusive of GST. For parking of commercial vehicles buses, trucks etc. Rs. 80 will be charged for parking up to two hours, Rs 120 for parking between two to five hours, Rs 300 for parking between five to 10 hours and Rs 500 for parking between 10 to 24 hours. Further, the monthly pass for parking of these vehicles will be Rs 9,900.

In addition to this, the Chairperson also stated that for parking of Tempos/Autos/Other equivalent vehicles up to two hours parking charge will be Rs 60, for parking between two and five hours Rs 90, for parking between five to ten hours Rs 200 and for parking between 10 and 24 hours Rs 300. Further, the monthly pass for parking of these vehicles will be Rs 6,000.
